The TLP focuses on improving the strength and tone of the tongue, lip and airway muscles. The appliance was the precursor to the TLJ appliance and can be used in a similar way, minus the jaw exercises. The unique advantage of the TLP is that the press tube is not fixated into an appliance, which allows targeted training especially in the middle and posterior thirds of the tongue. The TLP can be used with all of MRC’s treatment systems or by practitioners providing myofunctional therapy.

Lip Exercise:
Step 1 : Position the middle of the TLP between the lips, just in front of the teeth.
Step 2 : Compress the entire body of the tongue firmly against the press tube into the roof of the mouth. Hold for five (5) breaths while keeping lips together and breathing lightly through the nose.
